Hello & Good Morning from the beach,

I have been struct with some insomnia this past night and am sitting here are 5am, but watching the sunrise and drinking my coffee in peace is wonderful.

I am so incredibly happy with how the kitchen came together. We popped off the granite in the island and replaced it with a bigger piece of butcher block. Previously we were not able to sit at the counter which makes it hard with small children who want to be part of everything. We used the same stain as the rest of the wood pieces in our house and a food safe polyurethane. Butcher block is great and looks great! It added texture and depth to our kitchen which is what it needed to bring in the rest of the granite.

We also used a butcher block in our pantry over the cabinets. It is stained the same color as the shelves and does not have a food safe poly on it, just the traditional as it is not being used to prepare food and just storage.

It is great that we are able to enjoy this kitchen much more than we were able to before. I am so happy with this finally product. As of now the kitchen is fully finished and one room we can check off the list.

Best,

Lauren Michelle
